Muskie Getters
Sheboygan County Conservation Association
The 2021 event will be our tenth semi- annual “Turning Leaf Challenge”  Youth Muskie Fishing event.

We will take up to 14 young anglers, ages 12-18, with their parent or guardian out musky fishing on the open waters of Vilas County on Friday October 22 -24th 2020 to participate in a hands-on weekend Muskie hunt.

We provide transportation, lodging, food, and guides for the outing. There is NO cost to participants. The Youth Muskie Weekend committee will select participants on the basis of essay responses.

Members from Between the Lakes (BTL) Chapter of Muskies Inc. club volunteer their time, equipment and expertise to highlight the learning of this lifelong sport.

Participants are required to attended an educational session held by members of BTL Muskie Inc. The kids and parents will become familiar with identification of the Muskie, their habitat, proper equipment to use, assessing weather situations for safety, reading maps and electronics to navigate a lake and find potential fishing spots & refreshing boating safety skills to ensure a safe memorable fishing adventure along with a session entailing hands-on casting for Musky at pond side.

The Youth Muskie Weekend is open to young participants ages 12 –18. The participants must be accompanied with a parent or guardian for the weekend of the trip.

This adventure is made possible by BTL member sharing their boat and expertise of the fall Musky hunt with the youth and their chaperone. Each group will take to the waters in Vilas County on Friday afternoon & Saturday to chase the King of fish, the Muskie.

Participants will have the luxury of using the state- of-the art musky equipment and baits donated by our many sponsors.

The kids will hone their newly found skills casting, navigating the waters, and reading detailed maps and electronics to develop a plan to successfully hook a Muskie, also known as the fish of a thousand casts.

The first evening will typically feature a local Muskie guide explaining the “Art of the Chase”; the second evening will culminate with a camp fire circle to share their experiences of the day.
